Summary

The Revenue Recognition Manager at UMPG is responsible for the daily management of the cash team and month-end revenue close. Key duties include monitoring cash processes, analyzing revenue performance, ensuring accurate and compliant accounting, identifying and resolving revenue cycle issues (receivables, deferred income, bad debt), performing month-end closing tasks (journal entries, invoicing, refunds), leading revenue meetings, supporting finance and accounting teams, and acting as a liaison between Finance and Royalty Admin. The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, and experience with cash/revenue accounting is essential.

How we LEAD:

UMPG is looking for a Finance Manager (Revenue Recognition Manager).  This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the cash team as well as the month end revenue close. The position is located in Santa Monica, CA on a hybrid work schedule.

How you'll CREATE:

  • Monitor current cash processes and develop and implement new processes as needed.

  • Monitor and analyze revenue performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Key contributor of the revenue close process (month/quarter/year): ensuring accuracy and compliance of company accounting policies.

  • Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and problem-solving revenue cycle issues with focus on receivables, deferred income, and bad debt expense.

  • Perform various month-end closing tasks, including journal entries, invoicing, refunds.

  • Lead the month-end revenue meeting.

  • Support the finance and accounting teams during the month and month-end close.

  • Provide ad hoc analyses around revenue and cash receipts, including enhancing models and reports as required.

  • Key liaison between the Finance and the NA Royalty Admin teams.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Bring your VIBE:

  • BA in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in cash accounting/revenue accounting.

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to effectively multi-task and problem solve with minimal oversight.

  • Must be results-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to keep information confidential.

  • Music/entertainment industry experience highly preferred.

  • SAP experience preferred.

  • Prior experience with data analytics or tools a plus.
