Job Description

As a Legal Trainee at Google's regional Legal team in Zurich, you'll contribute to addressing the legal challenges of the digital age. You'll gain experience in various legal areas, including privacy, copyright, and consumer law, while working on projects like localizing Google products, marketing assessments, and agreement reviews. Responsibilities include responding to legal requests, assisting with court actions, and conducting legal research. You'll contribute to internal knowledge databases and work in a fast-paced environment, developing innovative legal approaches for 21st-century problems. This 12-month fixed-term contract offers a unique opportunity to learn from experts and shape the future of internet law.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in Law from a Swiss University
Fluent in English and German
Respond to legal requests
Assist with court actions and research
Available Feb-March 2025 for 12 months

Good to have:

Experience in data protection, IP, copyright, technology, or media law
Experience in a law firm or media/technology company
Fluent in French or Italian

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Law from a Swiss University.
Ability to communicate in English and German fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

Academic curriculum including either data protection, intellectual property, copyright, technology, or media law.
Experience working on numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Experience building relationships and communicating with people at all levels.
Experience in a law firm or in a media/technology company.
Ability to communicate in French or Italian fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
Available to start in between February and March 2025 for a 12 month fixed-term contract.

As a Legal Trainee, and part of the regional Google Legal team, you will play an important role in helping us to respond to some of the legal tests of the information age.

In this role, you will get an insight into a variety of legal tests at Google and YouTube, learning to expect the unexpected while promoting the development of internet law in an unconventional environment.

Responsibilities

Respond to various legal requests from users and third-parties in relation to Google services and resolve internal escalations.
Assist the Legal team in the preparation, management of court actions, and in subsequent analysis.
Assist in a variety of projects, such as the localization of new Google Products, marketing assessments, and the review and drafting of agreements.
Conduct research on a variety of legal topics and new regulations in the field of privacy, copyright, consumer law, media regulations, advertising, competition law, etc.
Participate in the creation and maintenance of internal knowledge databases for the Legal team.
