Job Description

This role at a major Australian bank involves developing low-latency FI/FX trading systems for their Institutional domain. Responsibilities include collaborating with traders, quantitative analysts, and engineers to deliver these systems, implementing continuous delivery practices, and building innovative solutions. The position requires utilizing tools and practices for efficient development, verification, and deployment. It also involves contributing to engineering communities and providing ongoing platform support. The ideal candidate will work within a collaborative team and contribute to improving processes related to reviews, quality, and documentation.

Must have:

4+ years KDB/q development in finance
Strong KDB/q skills (tp, rdb, hdb)
UNIX/Linux, shell scripting
Software design methodologies, patterns
Jira/Crucible, BitBucket, CI/CD tools

Good to have:

Team leadership experience
FX/FI experience
Java/Python/R
High-frequency trading experience

Project description

This project is for one of the largest Australian bank for their Institutional domain that provides Best-in-Class Foreign Exchange Services to their customers by empowering staff to build World-class products. The Team is responsible for FX and FI electronic market making, aggregation, and algorithmic trading.
It will give an opportunity to work with traders, quantitative analysts, java engineers, analysts, and testers to deliver low-latency FI/FX trading systems.

Responsibilities

Work with traders, quantitative analysts, java engineers, analysts, and testers to deliver low-latency FI/FX trading systems

Enable continuous delivery practices to increase delivery speed

Work in collaborative teams to build innovative solutions

Utilise tools and practices to build, verify, and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, enhancing tech division capabilities

Implement a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality and documentation

Contribute to Engineering communities, meetups, and conferences to promote technology development culture and practices

Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management

Create estimates and continuously review demand within the individual Squads/teams

May create, understand, and monitor application metrics

Skills

Must have

4+ years of hands on experience in Development using q/KDB / R/ Python in financial domain.

Strong KDB/q skills with a thorough understanding of q internals such as tp, rdb, hdb, and tick data storage.

Knowledge of interaction between application code, operating system, and hardware.

Solid knowledge of the UNIX/Linux environment and shell scripting.

In-depth knowledge and experience in software design methodologies, software design patterns, and functional design and principles

Development toolkits such as Jira/Crucible, and BitBucket & Familiarity with continuous integration and build Tools such as Team City/Hudson / Bamboo & build tools like Maven / Gradle.

Nice to have

Experience leading team of developers

Experience in Markets, FX or FI

Java/ Python/R

Quantitative development experience in high frequency electronic market making/algorithmic trading
