Ripple Effect Studios, part of EA, seeks an Environment Artist for their ExDev team to work on the next Battlefield game. This hybrid role in Vancouver focuses on assets from external vendors. Responsibilities include creating detailed asset briefs, onboarding vendors, reviewing submissions, polishing assets in the engine, coordinating communication between vendors and internal teams, and gathering reference materials. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience with game engines (Unreal or Unity), PBR pipelines, and 3D modeling/texturing software (Maya, Blender, Photoshop, Substance Painter).
Must have:
  • Create detailed asset briefs for external vendors
  • Onboard new vendors and review asset submissions
  • Polish external vendor assets to final quality
  • Coordinate communication between vendors and internal teams
  • 3+ years experience with game engines (Unreal or Unity)

Now, we're looking for an Environment Artist to help us craft the next Battlefield. This is a hybrid or onsite role in our Vancouver studio.

As an Environment Artist on our ExDev team, you focus on assets produced by our suite of external vendors. You will help onboard vendors, create asset briefs, review their submissions, and polish their pieces to final. You will report to our Line Director for Art who's based in our Marina Del Rey studio location.

What skills do we look for?

  • Create detailed asset briefs for external vendors.

  • Help onboard new vendors and review the asset submissions from existing vendors.

  • Ingest external vendor assets to the engine, and polish them to final.

  • Coordinate communication between external vendors and internal art teams.

  • Gather reference materials based on the established art direction for the project.

We believe that you have experience:

  • Technical fundamentals with working knowledge of Maya, Blender or similar 3D modeling software and Photoshop & Substance Painter for texturing purposes.

  • 3+ years of experience working with game engines like Unreal or Unity.

  • Experience working with physically based rendering pipelines.

  • Experience pushing asset fidelity and learning new production techniques.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)

    • $89,300 - $123,000 CAD

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
