Job Description

As an Engineering Manager, Server Frameworks, Core at Google, you'll lead a growing team driving technical excellence. Responsibilities include setting team priorities, aligning strategies across teams, designing and supporting infrastructure for Kotlin/Java services, collaborating on infrastructure improvements, and triaging system issues. This role requires managing engineers across multiple teams and locations, overseeing large-scale projects, and contributing to product strategy. The team builds the infrastructure used by thousands of Google developers to create products serving billions of users globally. Technical leadership, experience with Java/Kotlin, and people management are crucial.

Must have:

8+ years Java/Kotlin development experience
Data structures/algorithms expertise
Software testing, maintenance, and launch experience
Technical leadership and people management skills
Design, implement, and support infrastructure

Good to have:

Spring Boot experience
API design passion
Infrastructure development experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in Java or Kotlin languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
8 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in developing infrastructure or making contributions to a code base.
Experience working with Spring Boot.
Passion for API design and for building infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
Design, implement, extend, and support the infrastructure for building services using Kotlin and Java.
Collaborate with teammates across the organization to deliver infrastructure improvements.
Triage system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
