The Disneyland Fire Prevention Engineering Intern will assist project engineers, architects, and partners in all phases of project work, from drafting and on-site documentation to code research, design coordination, field data collection, and project closeout. Responsibilities include assisting with general facility fire and life safety inquiries, reviewing submittals from contractors for compliance with various codes and standards (FM, Disney, NFPA, California Fire Code), and assisting with integrated safety systems testing. The internship offers exposure to various projects ranging from minor renovations to new facility construction across attractions, maintenance, food, merchandise, and entertainment sectors. The internship is full-time from June to December 2025 in Anaheim, CA.
Must have:
  • Prior engineering/construction experience
  • Mass & Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics coursework
  • Building, Fire, and Mechanical Codes knowledge
  • Strong leadership, technical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
Good to have:
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes (13, 14, 30, 72, 92, 96, 400) and FM datasheets
  • Experience in Smoke Management, Fire Dynamics, Fire Modeling, Performance Based Design, and Water Based Fire Suppression Systems

Job Summary:

About the Role & Program:

Within the Disneyland Resort, the Architecture & Facility Engineering Services Division program is specially designed to develop you professionally, increase your practical knowledge in your area of technical expertise, while also completing valuable work for the Resort. You will have a wide range of opportunities to assist and provide key data to A&FE’s Architects and Engineers on various type of projects including Attractions, Maintenance, Foods, Merchandise and Entertainment.

The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 to December 2025.

This is a full-time position, and interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

This Internship is in Anaheim, CA.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist project engineers (Civil, Fire Protection, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical), architects, and partners in all phases of project work, from drafting, on-site as-built documentation, code research/ analysis, design coordination with outside design consultants, field data collection, light design/ production work, construction administration, and project closeout documentation for a variety of projects ranging in scope from minor rehabs to building new facilities.

  • Assist and consult on general facility fire and life safety inquiries by resort partners.

  • Review submittals from fire sprinkler and fire alarm contractors for compliance with FM standards, Disney standards, NFPA codes, and the California Fire Code.

  • Review submittals from outside design consultants for compliance with FM standards, Disney standards, NFPA codes, and the California Fire Code.

  • Assist facility engineers with integrated safety systems testing.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Prior related work experience is desired, including co-op/intern programs with a focus on engineering or construction.

  • Coursework or prior experience in Mass & Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, and Thermodynamics.

  • Coursework or prior experience in Building, Fire, and Mechanical Codes (California edition preferred).

  • Demonstrated/proven strong leadership, technical and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter with demonstrated initiative - able to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Availability to work various shifts based on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:  

  • Coursework or prior experience in Building, Fire, and Mechanical Codes (California edition preferred).

Education:

Junior, Senior or Graduate student currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree at an accredited 4-year College or University studying Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher as shown on a transcript.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information:

• Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines  

• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

• Fully available Monday thru Friday, PST for the duration of the internship,40 hours each week

 • Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Anaheim, CA area

• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work


The pay rate for this role as an undergraduate in CA is $30.00 /hr. The pay rate for this role as a graduate student in CA is $35.00/hr.
