ByteDance is looking for a Datacenter Operation Engineer to join their team in Ashburn, VA. This is a full-time position that requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field and 2 years of related work experience. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining on-site corporate network and IDC infrastructures, handling and fixing routine tickets and tasks related to data center ticketing system, performing system validation on server components, and analyzing test result and debugging failures during server functional test and stress test using Python and shell scripting. Responsibilities include participating in network device and cable projects, working within the server rack lifecycle process, performing power cycles and troubleshooting, working on network device and links status monitoring and validations, working with external vendors and ISPs for testing and verification, being the first point of contact for break-fix technicians, and assisting with inventory and asset management.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 2 years of related work experience
  • 1 year of experience in maintaining on-site corporate network and IDC infrastructures
  • 1 year of experience in handling and fixing routine tickets
  • 1 year of experience in performing system validation on server components
  • 1 year of experience in analyzing test result and debugging failures

Responsibilities Participate in network device and cable projects including network plan, cabling, installation, adding new capacity, and working on retrofits within the Datacenter. Work within the server rack lifecycle process with a focus on helping buildout computing and storage environments. Perform power cycles, troubleshooting, and replace failed components. Work on network device and links status monitoring and validations. Work with external vendors and ISPs for testing and verification and work within a ticketing system in support for the server fleet. Be the first point of contact (POC) for break-fix technicians and prioritize ticketing queues and work to resolve escalations. Participate in an on-call rotation. Assist with inventory and asset management.
Qualifications
Qualifications Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following: Maintaining on-site corporate network and IDC infrastructures including routers, switches, and servers; Handling and fixing routine tickets and tasks related to data center ticketing system, including monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and fixing infrastructure components and services; Performing system validation on server components including motherboard, CPU, memory, hard drives, back-plane, and power supply; and Analyzing test result and debugging failures during server functional test and stress test using Python and shell scripting.
