Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience serving in the capacity of a pre-sales engineer at an enterprise technology company, or in a similar customer-facing role.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or MBA .
  • 3 years of experience in serving as a pre-sales engineering manager.
  • Experience in data and information management, managing databases and identifying big data trends and issues within businesses.
  • Experience in developing software for scalable, distributed systems, managing enterprise networking and identity management systems, and using Linux.
  • Knowledge of Big Data, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and
    Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) industry and technical concepts, web application development platforms, and related technologies.
  • Ability to craft a compelling message and tailor it for a given audience.

As a Customer Engineering Manager, you will lead a team to engage with business prospects, named accounts, and channel partners to understand and assess customer requirements. You will prepare and present demonstrations of Google’s Cloud technologies and address technical objections that arise. You will lead efforts to drive solution innovation, working across the organization to identify the right assets and tools to drive customer adoption. You will manage a diverse team of engineering professionals. You will maintain the technical expertise to engage directly with prospects and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business management team to determine proper staffing levels to support annual goals.
  • Train and equip the Customer Engineering (CE) team. Assess team's Go-To-Market (GTM) readiness, identify gaps in preparedness and build plans to ensure they are properly trained.
  • Work with Cloud Sales team and leadership to identify, qualify, and prioritize coverage for business opportunities. Participate in periodic opportunity review meetings.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction through working with internal teams to resolve product problems affecting customer satisfaction.
