Job Description

As a Customer Engineer II, you'll partner with sales teams as a data management expert, differentiating Google Cloud to customers. You'll help prospective and existing clients understand Google Cloud's capabilities, develop cloud solutions, conduct proofs of concept, and troubleshoot database/application migrations. Responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, resolving technical blockers, sharing expertise on storage and databases, recommending integration strategies, and acting as a public advocate for Google Cloud. You'll work with Google Cloud products, demonstrate integrations, and engage with customers to understand their needs and present solutions. This role requires strong technical, communication, and organizational skills.
Must have:
  • 6+ years cloud native architecture experience
  • Database administration and solutions expertise
  • Data transformation, migration, and governance experience
  • Experience presenting to technical and executive stakeholders
  • Customer-facing or support role experience
Good to have:
  • Experience defining technical migration roadmaps
  • Disaster recovery and data backup strategy expertise
  • Database performance tuning knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture, including database administration and solutions, in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Experience architecting solutions for data transformation, migration, governance strategies, high availability, or disaster recovery.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in understanding a complex customer’s existing software workloads and the ability to define a technical migration roadmap to the Cloud reflecting specific customer needs.
  • Experience in disaster recovery and data backup strategies.
  • Experience with database performance with respect to transactional or workloads.
  • Experience with data migration strategies and moving production systems either in on-premise / data center environments or migration to cloud scenarios and SQL skills with query troubleshooting knowledge.

As a Customer Engineer, you will partner with technical Sales teams as a data management subject matter expert to differentiate Google Cloud to our customers. You will help prospective and existing customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business challenges, engage in proofs of concepts, and troubleshoot any technical questions and roadblocks related to database and application migrations and data back ends for new application development. You will use your expertise and presentation skills to engage with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will have excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$180,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Share storage and database expertise to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partnering directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
  • Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution on Google Cloud.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required, acting as a public advocate for Google Cloud.
