BMS Data Product Owner

Description -

Job Summary

• This role is responsible for developing and maintaining logical data models in order to match business and client requirements. The role works with other team members to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make organizational decisions. The role proposes innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining approaches across a wide range and variety of data assets. The role focuses on predictive and prescriptive solutions, while pushing the boundaries of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The role applies unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Define Semantic Models /App design and strategy with Data Consumers and aligned to Product Definition characteristics​
  • Responsible for Product Quality scores and KPIs, including Customer Satisfactions index and their improvement​
  • Document, publish and keeps up to date key artifacts for owned Product​
  • Define Service Level Objectives (SLO) and works with Data Platform Ops team to ensure they are met ​
  • Approve data access and monitor proper usage of owned Products ​
  • Support Quality issues resolution involving data system of origin and data engineers as required​
  • Assures designs and project activities are in compliance with data policies, architecture, security and quality guidelines and standards.
  • Establishes scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large scale data analyses and model development, validation, and implementation.
  • Represent the team in front of audit  / compliance ​
  • Owns communication to stakeholders regarding changes, issues and opportunities​
  • Signs off on projects / UAT impacting owned Product
  • Builds and manages relationships throughout the organization.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of data products.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Manages the product backlog and prioritizes tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensures data quality and integrity across all data products.
  • Provides insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Builds and manages relationships throughout the organization.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in data analytics, data engineering, data modeling, or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of SQL and other database query languages - BMS being a database
  • Advanced Excel understanding (including VBA)
  • High familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI and ThoughtSpot.
  • Microsoft Azure basic knowledge
  • Understanding of data management and data quality processes.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience in managing product backlogs and prioritizing tasks to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Capacity to evaluate data to optimize the efficiency and quality of insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and developers.
  • Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to facilitate Scrum ceremonies and ensure alignment with product goals.
  • Focus on understanding and meeting customer needs.
  • Ability to gather and incorporate customer feedback into product development.
