Be Part of the Story as the Associate Product Design Manager for Toys & Collectibles! This role is responsible for a specific range of products of a single category under general supervision from management / leadership. Builds strong peer / team relationships to ensure the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines across all channels of distribution (licensing, flex business models, vertical and wholesale) that build brand equity and meet financial targets.

This role reports to the Product Design Manager.

This is a Full Time role.

What You Will Do:

  • This role will develop a broad range of Licensed Hardlines product, including Disney/Pixar toys, and collectibles

  • Concept, design, sketch, prototype (including leading art-to-product, 3D modeling, sample creation, fit sessions, and electronic breadboards, where applicable), deliver and present trend-right consumer centric product lines that feature best-in-class innovation and great price/value for each tier of the value pyramid

  • Implement product and licensed packaging approvals through online systems and approval meetings, ensuring high quality standards in character execution, in-depth storytelling, color, material, form and function while increasing profitability, as well as onboard new partners

  • Develop and design product mock-ups, compile line sheets for line reviews, layout creative presentations, and retail pitch decks

  • Collaborate with internal partners (Creative Design, Brand Merchandising, Licensing Commercialization,

  • Sourcing and Tech Design, Global Product Design teams, BERGs, Corporate Brand Management, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, D&I teams, Cultural Consultants) and external partners (Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Publishing, Walt Disney Imagineering, Licensees, Direct to Retail Partners) to design and approve all products

  • Monitor competitors, product innovation and market dynamics

  • Research Initial seasonal trends by category

  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects within deadlines

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1+ years of related experience e.g. consumer product design, industrial design, toy design, character design, animation)

  • Solid knowledge in hardlines/softlines categories (raw materials, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, product manufacturing)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven negotiating skills

  • Strong product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art)

  • Strong computer software skills (e.g. MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $94,200.00 to $126,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
