If you are creative and passionate about technology and gaming, and ready to bring your experiences to work as part of an innovative consumer business, then the ZeniMax Legal team has an immediate opening at its global headquarters in Rockville, Maryland for an Associate General Counsel to join the team supporting the Bethesda gaming studios [within the Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) Gaming team].
This position will support and provide legal guidance to our gaming studios and publishing teams. Bethesda has a world-class catalog of titles and gaming franchises, including such highly acclaimed titles as Fallout, Doom, Starfield, the Elder Scrolls and many more. In this role, you will work directly with game studio members and our business development and marketing teams in managing a high volume of transactional work that includes supporting game development and publishing on PC, console and mobile, licensing of IP, publishing of game titles, and clearing rights to a broad arrangement of content, features, and experiences for our gaming titles.
Responsibilities
Act as the primary legal counsel for providing trusted legal guidance to business executives and others on a broad range of strategic and complex legal and business issues relating to the creation and publishing of gaming titles on PC, mobile and console.
Supporting the building and nurturing of gaming franchises and their communities, compliance with applicable regulatory and policy requirements, and the marketing and monetization of game titles, merchandise, and other related gaming products and entertainment services.
Collaborate with internal and external legal and policy specialists on various gaming related law and regulatory issues, including privacy, accessibility and digital safety matters associated with the video gaming industry.
Broader support to ZeniMax’s publishing and administrative teams, including advising on digital exploitation, PR and community events, and licensing and IP enforcement.
Qualifications
J.D. (or equivalent) and license to practice law in the U.S.
8+ years as a practicing business attorney, ideally with a mix of top law firm and in-house experience.
Strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
IP and content licensing experience.
Product counseling experience, preferably in video game development, mobile products or the entertainment industry.
Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of matters as lead attorney.
