Warner Bros. Games Boston is a Warner Bros. Games development studio focused on creating free-to-play games for mobile platforms. The studio is utilizing its extensive expertise in creating persistent online worlds that foster powerful social gaming communities to develop its hit mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest.

WB Games Boston is seeking to hire an Associate Game Designer. The ideal candidate is passionate about game development and design, with a strong growth mindset.

The Associate Game Designer will implement engaging gameplay content and systems within our live title Game of Thrones Conquest.

As an entry level position this role will be mentored in the development environment, receive hands-on experience creating static data, and expand their knowledge of mobile game systems’ best practices. 

This role is based in the WB Games Boston studio.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • The Associate Designer will focus on creating game systems content using a combination of Unity, scripting, and in-house editing tools.

  • Work with team leadership to design systems for a mobile free-to-play game

  • Work within game development best practices and development lifecycle

  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation to specification

  • Translate goals and objectives into design functionality

  • Create and maintain complex data files related to items, monsters, and other systemic content

  • Quickly adapt to change and feedback from leads, live data, and playtests

  • Balance and polish all manner of game mechanics, including live free-to-play economies

  • Manage bug queues and meet deadlines for prioritize work

  • Communicate and collaborate with cross disciplinary teams

  • Articulate game mechanics as part of the player experience

Qualifications & Experience....

  • Ability to collaborate with a design group and maintain a growth mindset

  • An understanding of free-to-play mechanics within games

  • Basic knowledge of player focused game design methodologies

  • Passion for mobile games, especially in the strategy or F2P genres

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production-oriented environment

  • Experience with Unity or other game engines

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel

  • Strong math skills necessary

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and results-driven

Nice to Have

  • Experience with C# a plus

  • Scripting skills a plus
