Job Summary:

Experience Designers play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing immersive gaming experiences that leverage cutting-edge AR/VR technologies. You will partner with our world-class art and creative teams to ensure game concepts are implemented to their intended design and primary goal is to enhance the overall experience of our players.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary development team to conceptualize and develop game ideas that leverage the capabilities of AR/VR and other emerging technology.

  • Design game mechanics, features, and systems tailored specifically for next-generation, immersive experiences.

  • Create and iterate on game design documents, storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes.

  • Utilize Unreal Engine and its Blueprint scripting system to implement and optimize gameplay mechanics, interactions, and user interactions.

  • Rapidly prototype game mechanics to test and iterate on gameplay concepts.

  • Gather feedback from playtesting sessions and use data-driven insights to refine game design elements.

  • Work closely with artists, programmers, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of design elements.

  • Collaborate with UI artists to create intuitive and immersive user interfaces for AR/VR and other immersive interactions.

  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of games mechanics and overall user experience to ensure high performance and quality.

What we’re looking for

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in entertainment design, game design, interaction design, new media design, related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • 3+ years professional experience as a game/level designer and demonstrable facility in the process & design of interactive experiences: knowledge of flow, pace, engagement, structure, environment, storytelling, replay, etc.

  • Proficient with at least one game engine (Unreal Engine preferred), and previous, professional experience working with game engines, using scripting tools to orchestrate events, systems, and implementing work into the pipeline.

  • Knowledge, appreciation (& identification) of design patterns related to design of user-centered interactive experiences & UI 

  • You know the power of metrics & data and want to discover the best possible experience via collected analytics and community feedback.

  • Expert with standard design communication tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio / OmniGraffle

  • Skilled with level design & media prototyping tools: Unity, Unreal, SketchUp, After Effects, etc.

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $83,900 to $107,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
