Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks an Associate Cost Controller to join its Project Controls Team. Responsibilities include developing and implementing cost management programs for construction projects, forecasting project costs, managing changes and associated costs, verifying invoices, and creating cost reports and dashboards. The role also involves performing cost analysis, identifying risk areas, assisting with funding requests, tracking project performance, conducting ad-hoc cost studies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses a BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, advanced MS Excel skills, and experience with relevant software packages. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.

We at Gigafactory Berlin Project Controls Team are looking for an Associate Cost Controller to join an energetic and vibrant environment.


The Project Control Team’s primary objective is to support the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) group in the design, planning, and execution of company infrastructure by providing management with critical decision-making information that ensures projects deliver on time and on budget. The team does this by closely collaborating with other functional teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adequate definition of scope, cost, and schedule; establish reasonable baselines; identify and manage risk; and track, monitor, and report project performance.  The team can then make valuable recommendations that improve and drive project performance.

What You’ll Do
  • Cost Management: Develop and implement cost management programs for construction projects, including approved budget, total commitments, cost incurred, and invoiced costs. Work closely with project team to forecast project costs during project execution.
  • Change Management/Cost Forecasting: Implement change management and capture associated costs to provide an accurate forecast.
  • Invoice verification and reconciliation.
  • Cost Communication: Develop reports/dashboards to communicate cost performance to various teams and different levels of management.
  • Cost Analysis & tracking: Perform trend analysis and actively evaluate project cost performance to identify potential risk areas, validate forecast – communicate those quickly to key stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Develop cost tools and reports to communicate project cost metrics and performance with the project team and senior managers so they can make data-based decisions.
  • Funding: Assist team in preparing project funding requests.
  • Performance Tracking:  Track and summarize project performance with other project controls functions and the finance teams.
  • Studies:  Perform ad-hoc cost studies that enable rapid decision-making based on payback, rate of return, etc.
  • Other work as needed in support of successful project delivery.
What You’ll Bring
  • BS in Engineering, Construction, Construction Management, or other relevant areas (with equivalent experience)
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction means and methods in the civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines is beneficial.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Software systems and packages including Aconex, Oracle Unifier, P6, Bluebeam, CAD, are beneficial.
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability in cross-functional environment
