The Team

As part of a wider EMEA Regional Marketing team, this role sits under the Infant-Preschool Marketing Lead and will focus on our Licensed-In Preschool & Toddler properties as well as our owned intellectual properties. You will work closely with the world’s leading entertainment partners and storytellers within the toy category as well as a wide variety of internal stakeholders such as global and local marketing teams, insights and digital marketing.

Job Description

The Opportunity

The Assistant Brand Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of preschool & toddler brands. They will provide strategic direction across product ranging, price architecture and go-to market approach, to ensure effective, creative and efficient implementation of Mattel’s category strategies and plans, whilst partnering with the brand owner (where applicable) to maximise opportunities across content and retail landscapes.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Contribute to the development of the regional brand strategies
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Brand Team (GBT) and with other members of the Regional Marketing Team (day to day communication) for effective brand management
  • Develop marketing programs and tactics that can be implemented in the region, working with media and communications agencies
  • Partner with licensors to co-develop franchise sell-in moments for licensed properties, and deliver licensors forecasts on time
  • Help define A&P Regional budget
  • Define the line architecture, pricing and volumes for segment responsibility to deliver against defined objectives
  • Contribute to product and Marketing presentations to the Local Marketing communities for their respective segments
  • Work in collaboration with countries, get constant insights in implementation results, share results with other countries within the region
  • Partner with the GBT and Planning team to ensure smooth production and supply process including administrative tasks for setting up new product lines
  • Share and guide implementation of country best practice within Europe community and the GBT
  • Work effectively within a matrix organisation and a virtual team
  • Manage relationships across Europe and with the Global Brand teams
  • Monitor performance and work with Local Marketing teams to course correct where necessary
  • Partner with the Planning team and Global Brand team to ensure a smooth production and supply process, including administrative tasks for new product lines

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration (Bachelor/Masters/Diploma) or equivalent qualification
  • Commercial/marketing experience within Brand Marketing in Toys, FMCG or licensed consumer goods (1-2 full-time years working experience)
  • Experience working within brand marketing or consumer products for a Licensor, or experience working with Licensors (preferably in the children’s entertainment sector) also an advantage
  • Ability to work in a wide variety of projects with aggressive deadlines, and can multi-task accordingly
  • Can work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic thinking and tactical skills, ability to be flexible and react quickly to changing situations
  • Build and maintain strong and effective, collaborative relationships
  • Proactive problem solver with a creative and analytical mind-set
  • Positive attitude, will-do-can-do
  • Competitive spirit
  • Results orientated, winning mentality, and a strong will to succeed
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
