Job Description

The Technical Solutions Engineer, CDN Networking, at Google Cloud will work with enterprise customers, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to the CDN network. Responsibilities include filing bug reports, suggesting code-level solutions, resolving incidents and escalations using data analysis, identifying opportunities to improve support, and empowering customers with self-service tools. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, expertise in network troubleshooting techniques (packet capture, load testing), and knowledge of networking fundamentals (load balancing, cloud storage, peering, TCP/IP). Experience in designing live media workflows and familiarity with Linux/Unix or Windows systems are preferred.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in coding or system design
  • 4+ years troubleshooting and customer advocacy
  • Network troubleshooting expertise
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
Good to have:
  • Technical consulting experience
  • Experience with live media workflows
  • System/network admin experience (Linux/Unix or Windows)
  • Experience using packet capture/analysis tools
  • Knowledge of basic web technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) or in system design.
  • 4 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., software, application, operational, process).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in technical consulting on supporting enterprise customers with service-level objective and service-level agreement requirements.
  • Experience using techniques such as packet capture/packet analysis, artificial packet creation, load testing, and traffic path analysis to troubleshoot network latency, packet loss, and other performance issues at the packet level.
  • Experience in designing and implementing live media or video on demand workflows.
  • Experience in System/network administrator level knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows systems.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (Load Balancing, Cloud Storage, Peering, TCP\IP etc.).
  • Knowledge of basic web technologies (HTTP, HTML, DNS, TCP, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • File issue reports against product, documentation and procedures by documenting desired behavior or steps to reproduce, and driving bugs to resolution.
  • Suggest code-level resolutions for product bugs by leveraging relevant tools and effective communication to all stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Resolve technical incidents and escalations by performing analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python) and leveraging custom data infrastructure or existing data models as appropriate, and formulating and interpreting data to reach specific conclusions and next steps.
  • Identify opportunities and build solutions to improve support or empower customers to solve issues by using self-service tools and documentation.
