The Content Systems Engineering team at Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer) to contribute to the development and maintenance of applications powering their content supply chain. Responsibilities include translating functional specifications into technical designs, implementing core software components, owning feature development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading design discussions, and conducting code reviews. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java (Spring Boot), modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular), microservices, event-driven architectures, API design, and various database technologies (SQL and NoSQL). Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services is crucial, along with a strong understanding of software engineering best practices and operational excellence.
Must have:
  • 13+ years experience developing scalable software using microservices

Meet Our Team:

The Content Systems Engineering team builds the applications and services that power Warner Bros Discovery’s content supply chain.  Our applications cover the entire breadth of the media supply chain, from idea to distribution.  We have a robust global community of thousands of internal Warner Bros Discovery users who rely on our apps every day to get television produced, on the air, and onto Discovery+.

We’re looking for a developer who can be an integral part of our new development team in Warner Bros Discovery’s Bangalore office.  We need a full stack developer who’s comfortable building, implementing, and consuming RESTful APIs for enterprise solutions. Our current service tier is a blend of Java and Node.js services. We’re transitioning our older, monolithic Dojo-based SPA to a micro-front-end featuring reusable components and loosely-coupled micro-apps. As a full-stack developer you’d be working alongside our current development team that features other full-stack developers along with some specialists dedicated to either front-end or back-end layers. No need to be an expert in everything, but we need you to be comfortable in your skills in each layer to contribute to it. Requirements and designs don’t deliver set in stone, so we would like you to be able to think on your feet and fill in the blanks when necessary.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs
  • Key technical contributor to the design and implementation of core software components of MSC platform
  • Take complete ownership and accountability of feature requirements from conception till delivery and continue to manage, sustain and optimize the system
  • Collaborate with the product, business, design and engineering functions to be on top of your team's deliverables & milestones
  • Timely delivery of highly reliable and scalable engineering architecture, and high quality, maintainable and operationally excellent code for your team
  • Serves as the functional lead, possesses deep knowledge of core systems,
  • Lead design discussions and code reviews

What to Bring:

  • 13+ years of experience developing scalable software using microservices
  • Experience in developing solutions in Java with Spring Boot framework and contemporary JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular).
  • Experience in backend and frontend software development, building micro services, event driven architectures/solutions.
  • Experience in private and public API design and cross-service integrations.
  • Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g., unit testing, design patterns, building maintainable code, performance)
  • Familiarity with a range of database technologies, encompassing both SQL and NoSQL options.
  • Usage and deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services
  • Experience building, operating, and owning services. Implementing operational excellence mechanisms including alerting, metrics, and logging using Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, PagerDuty.
  • You solve business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices.
