Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. The Time team builds and owns services and software for Google servers, and works to provide reliable and accurate time to the world. You will design, develop, and test critical software for True Time services, develop new services and APIs for distributed systems primitives, work with team members to debug/diagnose issues, load test new changes, or assist users in production. You will also scope problems, recommend solutions that consider both short- and long-term needs, and implement the solution or delegate the implementation to colleagues. You will be responsible for bringing new features/components into production.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience developing infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with C++, with the ability to work in a code-base.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience developing infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with C++, with the ability to work in a code-base.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
