Job Description

WebMD seeks a Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join their team. Responsibilities include collaborating with product management to understand user needs, developing responsive, multi-screen web applications and APIs using modern technologies (HTML, CSS, VueJs, NodeJS), building and consuming REST APIs, mentoring junior developers, and participating in architectural discussions. The role involves development, testing, code review, documentation, implementation, and maintenance. Experience with Javascript, HTML, CSS, VueJS (or React/Angular), RESTful APIs with Express and NodeJS, and Git is required.

Must have:

5+ years exp. in Javascript, HTML, CSS
VueJS or React/Angular exp.
Responsive web app & API development
RESTful APIs with Express & NodeJS
Git experience

Good to have:

Large public web app experience
NodeJS REST APIs with Express
SOLR/Lucene knowledge
SEO and page performance best practices
Section 508 & WCAG accessibility

Experience: 5+ years
Qualification: B.E. Computer Science/IT degree (or any other engineering discipline)
Work Timings: 2 PM to 11 PM IST

Roles & Responsibilities:

●Be part of a collaborative, friendly, and open environment with a team that offers high level exposure
● Mentor junior developers
● Work with the Product Management team to understand user needs and requirements
● Interact with a cross-functional team including product and project management, development, and infrastructure
● Develop responsive, multi-screen enterprise web applications and APIs using modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, VueJs, NodeJS)
● Build and consume REST APIs with NodeJS and Express
● Project responsibilities include development, testing, mentoring, code reviewing, documentation, implementation, and triage/maintenance
● Actively participate in and contribute to global site architectural discussions and initiatives
● Actively contribute to and enforce best practices and group standards

Position Requirements:

● 5+ years of experience developing with Javascript, HTML, and CSS on web applications that run at scale

● Experience using VueJS, or any other modern Javascript front end library or framework, such as React or Angular

● Experience developing responsive, multi device (desktop/tablet/mobile) pixel perfect layouts

● Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with Express and NodeJS

● Familiarity and comfort using version control software, preferably Git

● Strong understanding of SEO and able to implement SEO best practices

● Strong knowledge of software development, debugging and deployment tools

● Agile development practices: Scrum, Kanban/Lean, test-driven development, continuous integration

●Knowledge and experience of the challenges running a large public web application
● Experience building NodeJS REST APIs with Express
● SOLR / Lucene query knowledge and experience
● Experience building CommonJS/AMD modules with RequireJS or equivalent
● Understanding of SEO and traffic metrics
● Experience with implementing SEO and page performance best practices
● Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards knowledge and best practices
● Code samples (examples: URLs with descriptions of which parts you developed, zip file,
link to a github.com or equivalent profile)
