Job Description

This is a senior-level backend engineering role focused on building and maintaining the infrastructure for a Java-based application (using ServiceMix) that handles supplier requests from internal domains (Air, Hotel, Payments, etc.). The application translates requests between various formats (e.g., MQ to HTTPS, XML to ISO8583) and manages communication aspects like certificates and throttling. Responsibilities include designing and developing infrastructure for deployment, optimizing CI/CD processes, creating IaC scripts using Terraform, working with technical staff to resolve software issues, and potentially contributing to technical documentation. The role requires significant experience with containerization technologies and GCP's GKE.

Project description

This is a backend application (there is no customer facing GUI or any of that type of work), its primary function is to take supplier based request from internal domains - Air, Hotel, Payments and areas such as these and send them to an external supplier (providing in some cases either simple or complex translations - such as MQ to HTTPS as a simpler one or more complex task of taking an XML format and translating it to a proprietary protocol, such as the one used in payments - ISO8583). The system also manages certificates in order to communicate with the suppliers and manages throttling and other communication capabilities along this line. The current system is a Java application, based on ServiceMix.

Responsibilities

Design and develop infrastructure for application deployment

Optimize internal CI/CD process

Create IaC scripts to establish project infrastructure and configure application

Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them

May assist in development of software technical documentation

Skills

Must have

a minimum of 4 years of commercial experience working as DevOps Engineer with significant exposure on containerization technologies (excluding university, internship, etc.)
