As Regulatory Counsel, Competition at Google, you'll advise on antitrust risks related to Google's products and businesses. Responsibilities include interpreting laws and compliance obligations for various teams, providing legal advice on compliance programs, managing regulator interactions, and negotiating disclosures. You'll work on innovative approaches to address 21st-century legal challenges in the information age, collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate and eliminate competition risks. The role demands excellent legal expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
Must have:
  • JD/LL.B or equivalent
  • Bar admission or authorized practice
  • 3+ years attorney experience
  • Antitrust regulatory experience
  • Compliance program development
  • Excellent communication skills
Good to have:
  • 10+ years experience
  • Experience with CCI
  • Project management
  • Cross-functional team collaboration

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with legal, regulatory or corporate compliance, including strategically addressing, minimizing, and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Experience engaging with antitrust regulators such as the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
  • Experience with managing projects and partnering with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to be action-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, analytical, and investigative skills.

The Competition Legal team at Google is dedicated to advising Google on a wide variety of matters that pose antitrust risk to products and businesses. The team specializes in giving legal advice about competition risks, and coming up with creative ways to mitigate and eliminate those risks.

  • Interpret laws and other compliance obligations into requirements for Compliance, Business, Product, and Engineering teams.
  • Provide legal advice on compliance programs and policies to help mitigate risk.
  • Manage government and regulator discussions, negotiations, and disclosures on compliance readiness efforts.
