Job Description

As Regulatory and Litigation Counsel at Google, you'll lead responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and litigation in the India market. You'll oversee information collection for external submissions, advise on government audits, and develop defense strategies. This role demands strong legal expertise in Indian law and APAC regulations, experience managing regulatory risk, and excellent communication skills. You'll be a key part of a team collaborating with Googlers across the company to navigate complex legal issues arising from Google's technological innovations. Responsibilities include proactive risk assessment and advice to ensure products comply with laws and regulations. The role requires a JD, LL.B, or equivalent, bar admission, and 7+ years of attorney experience; 10 years is preferred.

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with legal, regulatory, and litigation matters, including strategically addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience engaging with regional regulators and global data protection or consumer protection authorities.
  • Experience and understanding of the legal, laws and regulations in APAC and India.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, investigative skills, with the ability to be action-oriented and seek to meet the standards of integrity.

The role involves defining a defense strategy, conducting investigations, collection and review of information, and representing the company in engagements.

  • Oversee the collection and production of accurate information in external submissions and disclosures.
  • Provide legal advice on government and regulatory audits and exams.
