Job Description

This Program Manager role at Microsoft focuses on developing and executing strategies for datacenter spares & warranty support at cloud scale. Responsibilities include defining and engineering processes and tools for managing service parts globally, driving program schedules and senior-level reviews, improving operational efficiency and enabling scale, building relationships across teams, and implementing measurement frameworks for data-driven decision-making. The role requires collaboration with various departments (Sourcing, Finance, Data Center Operations, etc.) and the global supply base. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering, operations, project management, or programming and a strong understanding of supply chain principles.

Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud Capacity Differentiated at Scale. Our mission is to deliver capacity for all cloud services predictably through intelligent systems driven by continuous learning and a world class organization. The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

We are looking for a Program Manager to develop & execute strategies to deliver datacenter spares & warranty support models at cloud scale in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, to provide & enable core services in support of global teams by engineering & managing robust processes for reliable delivery of service parts to datacenters. Focus on delivering key strategic initiatives and managing KPIs to monitor business performance and overall health according to rhythm of business governance model.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in Engineering, Operations, Project Management, or Programming
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in Engineering, Operations, Project Management, or Programming
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in Engineering, Operations, Project Management, or Programming
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in Engineering, Operations, Project Management, or Programming
    • OR equivalent experience.

 

Technical Solution Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Define and engineer process and tools for managing service parts business for one or more global regions, and one or more global parts providers
  • Define & drive to detailed program schedules, including senior-level program-level reviews to share scope, schedule, issues, and risks
  • Engineer, execute, and then refine process and tool models to improve operational efficiency and enable scale for service parts operations
  • Build working relationships across multiple disciplines and teams, driving influence across the organization
  •  Drive continuous improvement of deployment processes, including assessment & improvement of program delivery capabilities, analysis & insights of business performance metrics, and manage voice-of-the-customer feedback loops
  • Implement measurement frameworks to enable data-driven decision making
  • Collaborate with Sourcing, Finance, Data Center Operations, Procurement, Contracts Management & the supply base, effectively building relationships with a wide range of influencers and cultivating strategic relationships globally
  • Define and monitor KPI reporting in support of rhythm of business governance model including understanding business insights and narrative generation
