Job Description

Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks a Process Technician for its Body in White/Manufacturing Engineering team. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining BIW manufacturing processes; conducting root cause analyses of quality, process, and cycle time issues; managing external suppliers; ensuring safe line startups; implementing best practices; collaborating to solve downstream quality problems; performing DFM reviews; and implementing Lean Manufacturing concepts. The role requires strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with robotic cell commissioning (including robot and PLC applications), and proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software. The ideal candidate will have a technician background (mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics) and at least 3 years of relevant experience. This is a fast-paced, demanding role requiring weekend/night work.

Must have:

3+ years experience with robotic cell commissioning
Hands-on mentality
Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills
Experience with 2D/3D CAD
German & English fluency

Good to have:

Automotive environment experience
Experience with various robotic applications
Lean manufacturing experience (5S, Kaizen)

Tesla’s manufacturing engineering team is looking for a highly motivated technician to accelerate, maintain and improve our body in white production lines. This role will be involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping of automated state-of-art production facility. In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, Process Technicians work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product life-cycle. You will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Design Engineering, and Quality to take design changes and new vehicle designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

The Body in White is a critical component in Tesla vehicles. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. What You’ll Do

Develop, implement and maintain BIW Manufacturing processes.
Root cause analysis of quality, process and cycle time issues.
Interact with and manage outside suppliers and companies as necessary based on project scope.
Guarantee safe start up of the lines after implementations.
Ensuring of implementation of best practices for new project.
Work with cross functional team to solve quality problem downstream.
Provide detailed assessments and critical Design For Manufacture (DFM) reviews of Product, Process and Tooling designs.
Implement and expand concepts such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, etc., to reduce manufacturing cost and increase process quality and throughput.
Collaborate with all levels of engineering in the development of new ideas; review of current documentation and implementation of changes as required.

What You’ll Bring

Technician in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics training or equivalent experience (experience in automotive environment is a plus)
3 years experience with robotic cell commissioning incl. robot and plc applications
Hands-on mentality
Willing to work nights and weekends when determined by project needs
Experience with 2D line layouts (preferrable AutoCAD) and 3D CAD design programs (preferrable Catia)
Mechanical and/or electrical trouble shooting skills (+ robotic and/or plc preferrable)
Experience with Robotic applications such as Spot Weld, Adhesive, Self Piercing Rivet, Bolting, Stud Weld, Arc Weld, Roll hemming, Vision
Language skills: German & English (Verbal & Written)
