About the role:   

 

As a Custodian, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance of the facility, supporting the efficient operations and facilities management. Your primary duty is to create a clean and welcoming environment for employees, visitors, and customers. You will perform various cleaning and maintenance tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of the workplace. In this role, you will report to the Operations/Facilities Manager and collaborate with the Facilities team to support facility operations.

 

The Quest:  

Cleaning and Sanitizing:

  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and fixtures.
  • Wipe down and disinfect common surfaces, such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails.
  • Dust and clean office furniture, windowsills, and blinds.

Maintenance:

  • Report and address minor maintenance issues, such as leaky faucets, burned-out light bulbs, or broken door locks.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment and furniture for meetings and events.
  • Perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed, such as changing air filters or replacing ceiling tiles.

Supply Management:

  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and restroom amenities.
  • Keep an inventory of cleaning products and equipment and report shortages.

Safety and Security:

  • Ensure that all areas are free from safety hazards and report any potential issues.
  • Lock and unlock doors and gates as required.
  • Cooperate with security personnel and emergency responders during safety drills or incidents.

Supporting Operations/Facilities:

  • Assist the Operations/Facilities Manager with facility-related tasks.
  • Help with office reconfigurations and space management.
  • Support equipment maintenance and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities team to ensure efficient operations.

Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with other custodial staff to coordinate cleaning schedules and tasks.
  • Assist in training new custodial team members as needed.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative atmosphere within the Facilities team.

Other Tasks as Necessary:

  • Assist with the setup of meeting rooms and event spaces.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance and cleanliness needs.
  • Assist with moving and rearranging furniture and equipment as required.
  • Support waste and recycling programs by ensuring proper disposal and recycling procedures are followed.
  • Help with pest control efforts, such as identifying and reporting pest issues.
