Job Description

As the Manager of Benefits and Wellness, you will be a key influencer on the health and well-being of our employees across North America. You will act as a trusted resource for the business, providing support and counsel on all aspects of our benefits and wellness programs. Your responsibilities will include the design, implementation, compliance, and administration of comprehensive benefits packages, promotion of wellness initiatives, and oversight of the onsite medical clinic and gym.

This crucial role requires a deep understanding of benefits management and wellness programs, making it an essential part of the Trek employee brand experience. When this role is done well, our employees are empowered to perform at their best, contributing to the overall success and growth of Trek.

What you will do:

Health, Dental, and Vision Plan Administration:

  • Own the design and administration of health, dental, and vision plans.
  • Manage relationships with insurance carriers, including the Insurance Broker, and third-party administrators.
  • Assist employees with navigating issues such as pre-authorization, denied claims, and billing.
  • Oversee the pharmacy benefit manager, and handle denials and overrides as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely flow of eligibility and enrollment data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Retirement Plan Administration:

  • Direct the administration of the company’s retirement plans (401(k) and ESOP).
  • Drive process enhancements and automation to improve efficiencies.
  • Attend 401(k) Retirement Committee meetings and collaborate with committee members and financial advisors to review the company’s retirement plan performance and implement changes as needed.

Promote Employee Wellness:

  • Plan, develop, and execute comprehensive wellness initiatives aimed at promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being across the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to provide resources, activities, and incentives that support a healthy and balanced lifestyle for employees.
  • Oversee the operations of the onsite medical clinic and gym, conducting daily walkthroughs, managing contractors for fitness classes, and maintaining a budget for general maintenance.

Develop and Communicate Benefits Information:

  • Prepare comprehensive benefit and wellbeing communications for open enrollment, wellness initiatives, and associates' benefit questions and concerns.
  • Resolve moderately complex employee issues or escalate concerns that cannot be resolved by the team.

Vendor and Broker Management:

  • Regularly meet and work with vendors and/or brokers to ensure a high level of customer service delivery within plan documents and contractual agreements.
  • Communicate with external benefit vendors regarding benefit programs, plans, procedures, government-mandated disclosures, and resolution of member issues.

Provide Guidance and Support:

  • Be a subject matter expert. Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, managers, and employees regarding benefits, wellness, and relocation matters.
  • Offer guidance on program offerings, eligibility requirements, and best practices.

What you’ll bring to the role: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
  • Experience managing Employee Stock Ownership Programs (ESOP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in benefits management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification is a plus.
  • Workday specific experience beneficial. 

Compensation Range:

Annual Salary: 100-110K based on experience
