The Test Facilities Engineering department is responsible for acquiring new capability and modifications of test facilities around the world in support of rig, engine development and new engine production programmes.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

You will provide technical governance for the supply of mechanical systems. You will also:

  • Work closely with our key suppliers to ensure that the equipment installed and used on our test facilities meet legislative requirements and are safe for operation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Generate verification schedules and furthermore, conduct or support acceptance test procedures.
  • Write concise, unambiguous requirements and specifications.
  • Develop bespoke mechanical designs contributing to the overall system design.
  • Be responsible to chairing and supporting design reviews and approving primary tier and sub-tier designs.
  • Work as part of team, against demanding timescales, managing both internal and external resources.
  • Act as the primary engineering technical interface for projects under your control.

This role requires you to be self-motivated and have good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. Additionally we are looking for someone who is/has:

  • Qualified to a degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or qualified by experience.
  • Specific knowledge of the appropriate legislation including relevant EU Directives such as (pressure equipment directive), UK Statutory Instruments (CDM Regulations, PUWER, LOLER) and Standards (BS EN 13480 & 12100).
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety Control Standards preferred.
  • An ability to write concise, unambiguous requirements and specifications.
  • An ability to Develop bespoke mechanical designs contributing to the overall system design.
  • An ability to Work as part of integrated programme teams to delivery capability as part of a multi-skilled group whilst being the primary technical interface of a work package.
  • An ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering projects would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic and other fluid systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety risk reduction processes (such as HAZOP and FMEA) and design mitigation solutions.
  • An understanding of model-based definition using Siemens NX or similar software.
  • Appreciation of project planning and experience in project engineering would also be a benefit.
