The Global Payments team provides payment solutions, including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on, to ensure that users have a smooth and secure payment experience across our platforms and services. About the role The Global Payments team provides payment solutions and financial services to ensure that users have a smooth and secure payment experience across our platforms and services. We are seeking a Compliance Officer to develop, implement, and oversee the compliance function for our Mexican business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Mexican regulatory requirements related to payment and financial services, as well as experience engaging with CNBV and Banxico to effectively navigate regulatory processes and requirements This a hands-on role and requires someone that is self driven, adaptable to changes and strong leadership qualities to lead the team to achieve its yearly objectives in a highly fast paced environment. This role is based in Mexico City, Mexico. The successful candidate should be familiar with the Brazilian AML/CFT regulatory requirements in relation to Payment regulations, experience dealing with the Central Bank of Brazil and able to lead engagement in relation to internal/external audit and regulatory inspection on AML/CFT programs. This a hands-on role and requires someone that is self driven, adaptable to changes and strong leadership qualities to lead the team to achieve its yearly objectives in a highly fast paced environment. This role is based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Responsibilities - Lead the payments and financial service license application processes, serve as the primary point of contact with local regulators, and oversee all license-related matters in Mexico. - Stay updated on the regulatory changes that directly or indirectly affect the Global Payments team, in order to comply with the standards established by CNBV, Banxico and internal regulations. - Partner closely with Business Leaders to ensure regulatory licensing requirements are met, support the readiness of payment and financial services solutions, and collaborate with local product teams - Design, implement, and maintain the local compliance program to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives - Prepare and respond to regulatory inquiries and manage examinations. - Identify gaps in current compliance systems, policies, and strategies, and recommend enhancements and operational improvements. - Advise various stakeholders on compliance services, features, and requirements, and work with development and product teams to build out compliance processes (both automatic and manual). - Create and maintain a strong understanding of all regulatory requirements and frameworks. - Manage regulatory examinations/audits, engaging internally to ensure readiness and externally to present compliance controls; - Assist the Global Payments team to drive the strategy, framework and execution of the compliance program to ensure applicable Brazilian regulatory requirements are being met comprehensively. - Ensure compliance requirements are implemented by establishing project plans, defining owners and milestones, reporting status to senior management and driving towards go-live. - Prepare reports to senior compliance stakeholders with timely and actionable information concerning the health of compliance programs. - Promote a culture of compliance, proactively engaging peers and stakeholders across business, operations, and technology teams to educate on compliance controls.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - A minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory, compliance or advisory roles in a payment fintech or financial institution. - Strong understanding of the payment ecosystem and lending products - Proven track record in developing regulatory compliance capabilities from scratch. - Hands-on, working familiarity with regulatory licensing application processes in Mexico and compliance related matters, primarily in implementation and operationalization of regulations, rules, polices and processes. - Familiarity with the 3 Lines-of-Defense risk model Preferred Qualifications - Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills - Strong leadership and people management skills to build a high performing compliance function and strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders - Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments simultaneously - Proven ability to work and execute with minimal supervision - Prior experience working as a regulator is a plus.
