Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate to work in a growing fintech business as a Commercial Credit Analyst. The role involves managing the credit underwriting process, requiring analytical and numerical skills, and regular client interaction. Responsibilities include engaging with clients to verify financial transactions and business performance, evaluating credit and financial data to assess risk, preparing risk assessment notes, analyzing client records to recommend outcomes, interpreting financial ratios, assisting other departments with financial order management, understanding the lending platform, working with credit leadership on issue escalation, and meeting customer needs. The analyst will also monitor the portfolio and contribute to ad-hoc projects.

OVERALL PURPOSE

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate looking to work in a growing fintech business. The Commercial Credit Analyst position looks after our credit underwriting process, and relies on a combination of analytical and numerical know-how, as well as the ability to liaise and deal with customers regularly.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging with clients to verify their financial/credit transactions, business performance and request additional information where need be
  • Evaluating clients’ credit data and financial data in order to determine the degree of risk involved in lending money to them
  • Preparing notes about the degree of risk in lending money to clients
  • Analysing client records and using the data to recommend outcomes
  • Evaluating the financial status of clients by interpreting financial ratios produced by proprietary programs
  • Helping supply chain and Sales and Marketing departments in managing financial orders to help them control credit exposure
  • Understanding the lending platform in its entirety with special focus on the origination module
  • Working closely with the Head of Credit Underwriting and Credit Team Leader on issue escalation, ensuring customer problems are tracked, resolved and followed-up on
  • Using ideas and solutions to meet customer needs ensuring that their expressed and underlying needs are satisfied
  • Understanding and keeping up to date on the latest technology developments and technical issues affecting your accounts
  • Running other key operational tasks linked to the monitoring of the portfolio on book on a regular basis
  • Any other ad-hoc projects required to assist the team

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Matric/ grade 12 certificate or equivalent achieved
  • Completed finance/ accounting/ economics degree or equivalent
  • Ideally you will have some commercial/SME credit experience
  • Strong numeracy abilities
  • Passionate about delivering customer experience above and beyond customer expectations
