Job Description

The Google Cloud team helps companies, schools, and government seamlessly switch to Google products. As a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, you'll troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported issues related to Google Cloud's data analytics (e.g., BigQuery). You'll act as a consultant and subject matter expert, resolving technical deployment obstacles and improving Google Cloud. This role involves 24/7 customer support, collaboration with internal teams (product, engineering), and working directly with customers on production databases to ensure product readiness, availability, and scale. Responsibilities include understanding customer needs, advocating for them internally, and driving high-quality production. You'll need strong coding skills, data analytics expertise, and excellent troubleshooting abilities.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
4+ years experience in coding (Java, C++, Python etc.) or system design
4+ years experience in troubleshooting and customer advocacy
Data analytics, warehousing, ETL, data science experience
Troubleshooting BigQuery and underlying architectures
Consultant role for internal/external stakeholders

Good to have:

SQL database administration
Open source software community experience
Cloud networking solutions or distributed computing
Experience in dynamic organizations with cross-functional collaboration
Technical consulting on database design and architecture
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) or in system design.
4 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).
Experience in data analytics, warehousing, ETL development, data science, or other Big Data applications.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with SQL database administration, open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing.
Experience working in a dynamic organization with cross-collaboration across functions.
Experience in technical consulting on database design and architecture supporting enterprise customers with high SLO and SLA requirements.
Experience working on distributed applications or micro-services in a cloud based environment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

Develop an understanding of Google Cloud's data analytics (e.g., BigQuery) and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, and determining the root cause for customer-reported issues, building tools, and diagnosis.
Act as consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensure 24-hour customer support, including working non-standard work hours/shifts, and may include weekend work.
Understand customer issues, advocate for their needs with internal teams, including product and engineering teams, and drive high-quality production.
Work with customers on their production databases to resolve issues and achieve product readiness, availability, and scale.
