Summary

This role involves providing support to Google Cloud customers transitioning to the platform. Responsibilities include troubleshooting technical problems (debugging, networking, system administration, documentation updates, coding/scripting), acting as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, resolving technical deployment obstacles, and advocating for customer needs with internal teams. The position requires in-depth understanding of Google Cloud's Data Analytics products (BigQuery, Dataproc, etc.) and their architectures. Work will involve a shift pattern, including weekend work, as part of a global 24-hour support team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • 2 years coding experience (Java, C++, Python, etc.)
  • 2 years troubleshooting and customer advocacy experience
  • Expertise in Google Cloud Data Analytics products
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with data analytics, warehousing, ETL
  • SQL database administration experience
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop or workflow orchestration
  • Understanding of web technologies and TCP/IP
  • Unix/Linux administration skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience reading or debugging code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript).
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in data analytics, warehousing, ETL development, data science, or other Big Data applications.
  • Experience with SQL database administration, open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing.
  • Experience with open source distributed storage and processing utilities in the Apache Hadoop family or workflow orchestration products.
  • Experience working in a dynamic organization with extensive cross-collaboration across functions.
  • Understanding of web technologies and TCP/IP concepts, Unix/Linux basic administration and commands.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills in a fluid environment.

In this role, you will provide support to the customers making the switch to Google Cloud. When customers cannot resolve issues themselves, you will ensure that we have the necessary tools and processes to swiftly resolve the issue. You will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. You will help Google Cloud by understanding and advocating for our customers issues. You will be required to work in a shift pattern or non-standard work hours as needed.   • Develop an in-depth understanding of Google Cloud's Data analytics products (like BigQuery, Dataproc, etc.) and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, and determining the root cause for customer-reported issues, along with building tools and documents for faster diagnosis.
  • Act as consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  • Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensure 24-hour customer support. This will include a need to work non-standard work hours/shifts, including weekend work.
  • Understand customer issues, advocate for their needs with internal teams, including product and engineering teams and drive high-quality production.
