As an AI/ML Senior Software Engineer at Google, you'll be part of a team developing cutting-edge software systems for data analytics within BigQuery's Data Integration. You'll collaborate with product managers and customers to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements. You'll also be responsible for prototyping and researching solutions for projects with a high level of uncertainty, applying your expertise to determine the best use cases for AI/ML in products. You'll be involved in the evaluation, fine-tuning, and maintenance of AI/ML models, including collecting and preparing the necessary data.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of software development experience
  • 3 years of experience testing and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience with infrastructure or compute technologies
  • Experience with AI/ML quality evaluation and improvement
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience in a technical leadership role
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Experience promoting product excellence and collaboration
  • Experience using collaborative notebook-based workflows
  • Passionate about delighting enterprise customers

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • Experience in AI/ML quality evaluation and improvement.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience promoting product excellence and collaboration, driving a portfolio of concurrent engineering projects running the gamut from short-term critical feature launches to long term research initiatives.
  • Experience using collaborative notebook-based workflows for prototyping and knowledge sharing.
  • Passionate about delighting enterprise customers, and an excellent understanding of enterprise workloads.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop next-generation software systems for data analytics.
  • Prototype and research for solutions in projects with a high level of uncertainty.
  • Participate in discussion with PMs and customers to understand requirements and map those to technical requirements.
  • Apply judgment to determine whether, where, and how to apply AI/ML to products.
  • Evaluate, fine-tune, and maintain models (which includes collecting and preparing data as needed).
