The Supervising Producer, Contestant Recruitment and Development at Jeopardy! will report directly to the Executive Producer and necessitate working in a team-based environment with other senior management level Jeopardy! producers and SPE executives within the Game Show Group. This is a freelance/production hire. The main goal for this role will be to oversee the direction of the show's contestant department -- being hyper-focused on the contestants and recruitment strategies by expanding, strengthening, and diversifying Jeopardy!'s contestant pool as well as enhancing the contestant experience. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead the contestant team in taking a more active and outward-facing approach to expand, strengthen, and diversify the contestant pool with both short and long-term recruitment strategies
  • Identify, create, and implement new initiatives for identifying talent
  • Manage and ensure the contestant team is efficient and fully engaged throughout the entire contestant testing and selection process
  • Spearhead Jeopardy!’s efforts to recruit the best players possible to take the Anytime Test and any future specific test (i.e. Pop Culture and Sports Jeopardy!)
  • Initiate ways to enhance the contestant experience at every stage - from applying and auditioning, to appearing and becoming alumni 
  • Partner with the research team to identify markets and communities where we are underrepresented with players
  • Work with publicity and local stations to promote our outreach efforts
  • Maintain excellent relationships with our top players and alumni
  • Develop and implement a program for Jeopardy! Player development on college campuses and in high schools
  • Develop and implement strategies to build a “in-live” program for Jeopardy! (ie. bars, schools, etc.) all across the country and connect to the live trivia network
  • Act as an ambassador for the Jeopardy! brand at in-person recruiting events and conferences 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be Jeopardy!’s #1 fan! We are looking for someone who has passion and love for Jeopardy!.  Maybe you’re a former contestant, or actively involved in the Jeopardy! community or have always dreamt of working at Jeopardy! Whatever the motivation, we’re looking for someone who can enhance Jeopardy!’s culture and bring a different perspective to the contestant selection process.  It’s a plus if the candidate has a background in creative producing and development across a wide variety of game and entertainment programming, with significant experience in multi-camera production.  Wide ranging industry contacts are a plus, as well as experience managing casting teams and dealing with senior executives at studios and networks. 

  • 10+ years work experience, which includes experience leading teams
  • Proven passion and love for Jeopardy!, trivia, and game shows in general
  • Previous experience in either high-end non-fiction television casting, real people commercials casting is a PLUS, or alternatively, experience in college admissions will also be considered  
  • Proven ability to unearth talent in unexpected places - not just New York and Los Angeles
  • Strong leadership presence and personality
  • This position will be a freelance, production hire

The anticipated salary for this position is $5,000-$7,000 weekly. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
