Summary

As a Strategic Negotiator, Network Infrastructure at Google, you'll secure cost-effective infrastructure solutions, negotiating deals and managing vendor/partner relationships. This involves securing partnerships and agreements with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions. You will also build and cultivate strong relationships with key executives in the African technology ecosystem. Your responsibilities include driving the strategic growth of Google's network infrastructure in Africa and expanding its reach. You'll leverage deep market knowledge and tech industry expertise to negotiate agreements for various infrastructure components, from underwater cables to data center space, impacting Google's operating costs and business operations. This role necessitates excellent financial skills and the ability to discuss complex agreements.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years negotiating agreements/business development
  • Data-driven network analysis experience
  • Partner relationship management & business outcome creation
  • Network capacity planning experience
  • Secure partnerships and business agreements
Good to have:
  • Experience negotiating with high-tech providers (collocation data centers, dark fiber, etc.)
  • Complex agreement discussions with vendors, partners, and suppliers
  • Financial skills (NPV calculations, agreement structuring, ROI analysis)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience negotiating and structuring agreements or leading business development.
  • Experience in performing data-driven network availability and resiliency analysis.
  • Experience managing and partnering with partners to create relationships and business outcomes and in growing partners businesses.
  • Experience with network capacity planning.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with strategic negotiations or business development in obtaining services from high-technology providers in collocation data centers, collocation data center construction, collocation data center equipment, dark fiber, network transport, bilateral terrestrial/undersea interconnects, and IT services.
  • Ability to discuss complex agreements with vendors, partners, and suppliers.
  • Excellent financial skills including network present value calculations, agreement structuring, and return on investment analysis.

As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

In this role, you will manage the relationships with our external partners, and interface with the internal teams in order to deliver these complex solutions.
