Elsewhere Entertainment seeks a Senior Vehicle Artist focused on technical aspects for a new IP. Responsibilities include creating detailed, realistic vehicle models, textures, and materials aligning with the project's artistic vision. Collaboration with engineers and technical artists is crucial for integrating models into the game engine, optimizing for performance. The role involves creating vehicles, gear, and props from scan data, concept art, and reference photos; basic rigid skinning; asset maintenance and updates; collaboration with art and technical leads; and incorporating feedback. The ideal candidate possesses photorealistic vehicle creation experience for games, strong team collaboration skills, and 3+ years of game development experience.
Must have:
  • Photorealistic vehicle creation experience
  • Proactive team player with excellent communication
  • 3+ years game development experience
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Painter, 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, or similar
  • Ability to work with scan data
Good to have:
  • Rigging principles knowledge
  • Understanding of engine limitations
  • ZBrush, Mudbox, Marvelous Designer experience

Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Vehicle Artist with a strong focus on the technical side to join the development of a new IP.   
 
Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! 
 
As a member of our Art department, you will work on creating detailed and realistic vehicle models, textures, and materials, ensuring they meet the artistic vision of the project. You will collaborate with engineers and other technical artists to integrate these models into the game engine, optimizing for performance and functionality.


As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.  


You’ll help us by… 

  • Creation of vehicles, gear and props derived from both scan data as well as concept art and reference photos

  • Basic rigid skinning using internal tools to set up a vehicle in game

  • Maintain and update assets to a high efficiency standard that fit within a budget

  • Collaborate with the vehicle lead artist and teammates for both the art and technical side of vehicle development

  • Collaborate with designers, concept artists and animators

  • Receive feedback and modify work based on direction

You’re awesome because you have… 

  • Experience creating photorealistic vehicles for games

  • Proactive and work well in team environment and have excellent communication skills

  • 3+ years of experience working within game development

  • Ability to learn new tools effectively

  • Experience using Photoshop, Painter, 3DSM, Maya, Blender or 3D art package of your choice

Bonus points for… 

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and resolve conflicts

  • Technical knowledge of rigging principles

  • Understanding of engine limitations and requirements

  • Zbrush, Mudbox, Marvelous Designer and other 3D software is a benefit

  • Experience using scan data
