Job Description

The Senior Optical Engineer will design, debug, and deploy effective measurement systems, including test methodology, hardware, software, instrument, and fixture design. Responsibilities include supporting the integration of novel metrology solutions, communicating design decisions, simulating optical properties influenced by instrument tolerances, bringing up and debugging measurement systems during the NPI cycle, defining measurement methodologies, designing precise, environmentally-aware systems, developing repeatable instrumentation, collaborating on measurement metrics and specifications, and working with vendors on prototype development. The role requires a strong technical background in optical engineering, lasers, microscopy, or optics design, proficiency in data analysis and algorithm development (Python or Matlab), and excellent communication skills.

Must have:

Optical engineering background (7+ years)
Optical design experience (Zemax, Code V, LightTrans)
Lab experiment proficiency
Data analysis & algorithm development (Python/Matlab)
Collaboration & communication skills

Good to have:

Instrument building experience
University/research background
Vendor relationship management

Project description

The role of an Optical Engineer is to design, debug and deploy effective measurement systems that include test methodology, hardware, software, instrument and fixture design.

Responsibilities

Be part of a team that will support the integration of novel metrology solutions and communicate design decisions and strategies to a cross-functional team.

Simulate how optical properties of the devices under test can be influenced by tolerances of the instrument.

Bring up, debug and mature the measurement system during NPI cycle.

Define and document the appropriate methodologies in the measurement.

Design precise systems that can take the environment into account.

Develop repeatable and reproducible instrumentation that meets product requirements.

Collaborate across teams to create, define and document measurement metrics and specifications.

Technical background in either optical engineering, lasers, microscopy or optics design

Ability to build strong relationships with x-functional teams and vendors.

Ability to explore potential technologies and work with suppliers on prototype development.

Self-motivated, independent, and dedicated. Excellent English communication and presentation skills.

Competence in data analysis and algorithm development in Python or Matlab.

Hands-on experience in optical design (Zemax, Code V or LightTrans) are a plus.

Hands-on experience in optical design (Zemax, Code V or LightTrans) is a plus.

You don't mind lab experiments

Ability to explore potential technologies and work with suppliers on prototype development.

Self-motivated, independent, and dedicated.

Excellent English
