The Senior Logistics & Customs Analyst at Mattel is responsible for monitoring and reporting KPIs related to logistics and customs performance. Key responsibilities include analyzing data to identify problems, suggesting solutions, working with IT and vendors to enhance logistics processes, meeting internal customer needs, and potentially leading optimization projects. Excellent communication and presentation skills are crucial, along with proficiency in data analysis and MS Excel/Access. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be able to effectively communicate analysis and results throughout the organization.

The Team:  The Inbound Transportation and Customs department is part of our Global Supply Chain team. This team is responsible for controlling the flow of goods ensuring cargo is offloaded from the aircraft, truck or vessel, it is customs clear so that it can be released to the importer without delay.  The containers are then picked up and taken to the DC, where the cargo is segregated and ready to meet the customers’        fulfillment requirements.  In order to meet the requirements, all truck, air and ocean shipments need to clear customs timely and accurately, resolving all entry issues prior to transmission to ensure the DC’s has the product ready and issue free for customer orders.

 

Job Description

The Opportunity: The Sr. Logistics & Customs Analyst is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and reporting KPI’s related to logistics & customs operational performance. This position is responsible for developing tools to increase visibility to potential issues and service failures to streamline processes and drive operational improvements. This position requires an incumbent that is knowledgeable, self-directed, and can complete work with little direction.

What Your Impact Will Be:  

  • Monitoring KPIs & report on logistics service performance (e.g lead times, rail dwell, financial spend, etc.)
  • Emphasis on building consistent and reliable data for all U.S DC’s.
  • Analyze data to identify problematic areas and suggest improvements
  • Ability to grasp Logistics IT resources and serve as liaison on behalf of department to communicate informational gaps with IT & external vendors to improve logistics processes.
  • Work with internal customers' needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met.
  • Plan and potentially lead logistics optimization projects
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills – ability to take lead and serve as subject matter expert on behalf of department.
  • Support communication and dashboard data.
  • Ability to foster relationships with both internal & external business partners
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit
  • Handle activities in a timely manner and escalate to supervision/management immediately when issues arise.
  • Ability to attend work regularly and on a timely manner.
  • Able to perform work with accuracy.
  • Ability to learn and use various warehouse management programs.
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by your manager or supervisor.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree – International Business, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or similar study/field.
  • 3 or more years related experience in logistics, customs brokerage, transportation, supply chain, network optimization, or similar field.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent data analytics, problem-solving, reasoning, and influencing skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel (PowerQuery)/Access Skills – pivot tables, Macro, Building Queries, INDEX-MATCH, Multiple IFS.
  • SQL Language
  • Experience with Google Big Query/Tableau
  • Driving Reporting Automation
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, motivated to develop and grow.
  • Able to effectively interpret and communicate analysis and results throughout the organization.
  • Strong problem solving/decision making skills
  • Ability to analyze data & dissect information
  • Ability to develop new tools to help streamline department
  • Works as one team, is flexible, and seeks self-development/growth. 
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000.
