Job Overview: 


     As a Rigging Supervisor, contribute to the timely delivery and quality of shows, actively engaging in client meetings and bidding for projects. You possess an in-depth understanding of tools, workflows, and team dynamics, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving skills and proactivity in addressing rigging challenges. With strong technical expertise in Maya, Python, Qt, C++, and dynamic systems, such as nCloth and nHair, you will play a pivotal role in selecting and coordinating team members, fostering effective communication with production and show leads, and prioritizing rigging development for current and future shows. Your leadership attributes include impeccable communication, delegation skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, making them crucial contributors to the success of our animation projects.


Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee on-time delivery and quality of one or more shows in terms of rigging, participate in client meetings to express rigging-related opinions, and handle bidding responsibilities.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of tools, workflows, shows, and team members, ensuring optimal team dynamics by selecting the best-suited members for specific projects.
  • Communicate key points from meetings to the team, facilitate communication between production and show leads, and collaborate closely with Modeling, Animation, SFN, and CFX supervisors to create rigs tailored to their needs.
  • Predict and proactively address show difficulties, finding solutions to common rigging issues and prioritizing rigging development for current and future shows.
  • Demonstrate a strong artistic eye for detail, coupled with an in-depth understanding of body and facial anatomy.
  • Identify common rigging issues and bring them up in leads' meetings for continuous improvement.
  • Exhibit a calm and confident demeanour under pressure, making informed decisions and delegating tasks with confidence.
  • Write, maintain, and document tools properly to enhance the overall efficiency of the rigging department.
  • Collaborate with other departments, handling cross-department workflows, and contributing to the integration of rigging tools into the production pipeline.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Assist with the hiring and interviewing process of rigging artists by attending interviews and sharing constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle conflicts with calmness and find effective working solutions.
  • Conduct routine performance evaluations for Rigging team members, providing constructive feedback, insights, and recommendations for improvement, including suggestions for potential promotions and future project assignments. 
  • Work with Human Resources and the Production team during the hiring process for the Rigging department, conducting interviews and helping to select the best candidate.
  • Assist in keeping the show within budget by managing assignments and necessary overtime.

 

Qualifications:


  • Have at least 5 year of related experience
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • Being calm and strong under pressure
  • Proficient in Maya
  • Proficient in Python
  • Familiar with C++
  • Familiar with 3D related math subjects
  • Strong knowledge and experience with dynamic systems, eg: nCloth and nHair
  • GIT power user

The wage range for this role reflects compensation across all of ICON’s projects. The final salary will be determined based on the specific position, the current show assignment, and the applicant’s experience and portfolio. This range accounts for varying levels of experience and responsibilities.
