The Production Manager is responsible for managing the entire project in all phases of pre-production. This includes handling and leading all artistic crew, and production crew. This role ensures the production meets all target dates and budgets, working closely with all studio execs, accountants, and marketing.

Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Culver City, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. We pride ourselves on empowering filmmakers to lead the creative process, and allowing the hand of the artist to be truly felt, with the goal of producing bold and innovative visual storytelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain all project schedules assuring that artists and crew are aware of assignments and target dates. 
  • Lead all aspects of the day to day operations of the production, Story, VisDev and Editorial departments.
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to the production team.
  • Supervise all approval deadlines and landmarks.
  • Report to the Studio weekly with all updates and statuses. 
  • Maintain constant communication with Executives regarding show feedback and updates.
  • Leading meetings, reviews, executive meetings, etc. as the need arises.
  • Work in Excel, Shotgun, Flix, Google docs, etc to keep track of all tasks.
  • Proactive and resourceful in seeking solutions and leading the team.
  • Work closely with Finance and Staffing to crew up your team within the approved budget.
  • Facilitate smooth workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous dynamic experience in a production role in animation or VFX. 
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and diligent with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities. 
  • Take direction when needed and also take the initiative where applicable. 
  • Trustworthy and able to maintain a high level of discretion. 
  • Driven, innovative, strategic and solution focused.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with creative individuals.
  • Ability to communicate in a constructive, proactive manner.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance various priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Computer and technology literate – familiarity with Mac/PC operating systems, Photoshop, Word, Excel, and Gmail. 

The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 per year. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
