Summary

The Payroll & Benefits Manager at SEGA's European HQ in Brentford is responsible for the full lifecycle of payroll processing for 950+ employees across 5 UK entities. This includes managing the monthly payroll cycle in Workday, benefits administration, ensuring compliance with UK legislation (SMP, SSP, pensions auto-enrolment), and liaising with various stakeholders. Responsibilities encompass data entry, reconciliation, reporting, benefits renewal, employee communication, and process optimization. The role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing relationships with internal and external partners. A hybrid work model (3 days in office) is offered.

Position at SEGA European Head Office

The Payroll & Benefits Manager has sole responsibility for managing our in-house monthly payroll cycle, and benefits administration for our 950 employees across 5 UK entities. They will ensure all payroll and benefits processes are completed efficiently, on time and accurately and any nuanced issues are dealt with promptly and escalated if necessary. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail and working independently.  
 
The position is based at SEGA HQ in Brentford, with a Hybrid Working model requiring 3 days per week in the office.
    
Key Responsibilities:    

Payroll 
  • Full end to end processing of our monthly in-house payroll.    
  • Working alongside HR contacts at each of the studios to collect payroll data and ensuring this is entered into the payroll system (Workday).    
  • Manually entering data as and when required.    
  • Paying the necessary disbursements (e.g. HMRC liabilities, court orders etc.).     
  • Managing parental leave calculations.    
  • Ensuring all tax year end processes are completed (P60s, P11D(b)s).      
  • Processing the monthly pension upload.    
  • Working closely with the Finance team for payroll reconciliations.     
  • Consistently reviewing processes to ensure optimisation.    
  • Working with the systems team to ensure the configuration of SEGA business processes in Workday meets payroll requirements.   
  • Taking ownership for payroll compliance.   
  • Being the main point of contact for any payroll queries.   
 
Benefits   
  • Managing the annual benefits renewal process.   
  • Uploading necessary reports for our benefits provider.    
  • Coordinating onsite days and virtual sessions (e.g. pension roadshows, health screenings, flu jabs).     
  • Communicating benefits to employees, ensuring that SEGA staff are aware of the current offerings and informed of any changes.    
  • Competitor and market research for new benefit providers or offerings.    
  • Being the main point of contact for any benefits queries.    
 
Other 
  • Maintaining data integrity between our HR database, payroll system and benefits provider.      
  • Collaborate with our benefits broker, systems teams and local HR to enhance and streamline payroll and benefits function.   
  • Ensuring our process documentation is updated when we iterate and change existing processes.    
  • Processing all invoices related to payroll and benefits.   
  • Providing reports on payroll and benefits data to management and our studios.    
  • Supporting the Senior Manager, Total Reward with any payroll/benefits projects.    
    
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:     
Essential    
  • Considerable payroll experience.   
  • Previous experience managing benefits.   
  • Experience processing payroll via Workday Payroll.    
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, with an in-depth knowledge of v-lookups and formulas.      
  • Highly organised with an exceptional attention to detail.    
  • Able to work towards deadlines and structure project work around payroll deadlines.    
  • Confident managing payroll independently and working with local HR teams if issues arise.    
  • Able to work independently.    
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.    
  • Strong knowledge of UK legislation and regulations. (Including SMP, SSP, pensions auto-enrolment and knowledge of average holiday pay).    
   
Desirable    
  • Previous experience working within a HR team.       
  • Previous experience with Gender Pay Gap reporting.     
  • Knowledge of payrolling benefits (PBIK).   
  • A CIPP qualification.
