Summary

The Market Analyst role at Nielsen supports daily production deliverables for the Nielsen Audio Operations team. The analyst executes data production steps, resolves anomalies, provides critical analysis of systems and processes, performs detailed rules analysis, coordinates defect tracking, manages workload, and monitors market-level diary mentions (station credit fluctuations, unidentified listening, etc.). The role requires managing special handling situations, monitoring station thresholds, completing market reviews within deadlines, and taking action on identified issues. Credit Specialist experience and advanced data analysis skills (Google Suite) are required.

Market Analyst

The Market Analyst role supports daily production deliverables for an Operations team within the Nielsen Audio space.  This position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and updating diary listening data.  Market Analysts review data at a market level by analyzing trend information, identifying potential issues, and processing special edit procedures applicable to each market.  Market Analysts verify that each market is completed and processed with the highest level of quality prior to release to downstream systems.

Responsibilities:

    • Execute steps in a data production system flow for the delivery of data to Nielsen Audio Reporting and customers, including sourcing multiple internal/external data inputs, applying complex business rules, and determining the appropriateness of data processing results based on policies and procedures.
    • Monitor system output in order to resolve anomalies and escalate issues appropriately.
    • Provide critical analysis support for systems and processes including: analyzing data anomalies to determine root causes, data accuracy, impact to client deliverables, and mitigation strategies.
    • Perform detailed rules analysis and suggest updates to  documentation for operational procedures.
    • Coordinate defect tracking and resolution for area of responsibility; recommend and implement improvements to production processes by analyzing data and understanding the underlying principles and business rules.
    • Manage assigned workload and adapt to reprioritization as necessary, and possess the ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously. 
    • Monitor market level diary mentions in the following categories according to assigned geographical area, and take action to ensure appropriate and consistent crediting is applied: Station credit fluctuations, Unidentified listening levels, Dark Station qualification, Out of Market Stations, New Stations.
    • Monitor Special Handling situations in assigned markets to ensure that proper credit is applied based on known market conditions.
    • Monitor station thresholds for qualification.
    • Complete market review within scheduled time frames.
    • Take appropriate action upon identification of diary, station, county, or market level issues by reviewing the appropriate historical trends, procedural documentation, and reference resources.

Requirements:

    • Credit Specialist experience with acceptable quality level.
    • Advanced level aptitude with data analysis tools such as Google Suite of Tools.
    • Ability to coordinate and track multiple processes that are in various stages of production.
    • Proven experience documenting procedures.
    • Proven ability to evaluate and manipulate data from multiple sources using appropriate tools and quickly adapt to emerging technology.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet tight delivery deadlines.
    • Ability to identify and solve problems within a process autonomously and understand context and impact of business decisions.
    • Proven ability to create, evaluate, and improve processes.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A reasonable estimate hourly range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $12.50-$20.20 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
