Ninja Van seeks a Head of Legal to lead and develop their Philippines legal team. This role requires 10+ years of experience in a company legal department and a reputable law firm. Proven leadership, commercial acumen, and strong stakeholder communication skills are essential.

Ninja Van wishes to bring on board a senior Legal Counsel to lead and develop Ninja Van’s award-winning Philippines legal team and provide strategic commercial and legal advice to country and group management.

To be successful, the candidate should be a commercially savvy and self-motivated individual, who can operate independently in a fast-paced work environment and manage and drive 4 other team members to deliver high quality legal deliverables. He or she will report to the Group General Counsel based in Singapore and work closely with Filipino senior leadership. Pro-activeness, ‘can-do’ attitude and strong stakeholder communication and management skills are essential to the role’s success.

Main Duties

Function head responsible for managing legal and regulatory matters in Philippines.
Lead and develop legal team to deliver high quality legal services in a fast-paced environment and ensuring that legal advice is commercially-savvy and legally defensible.
Designing and implementing country-level legal processes, policies and training relating to contract process compliance and mitigation of legal and regulatory risks.
Advising on, negotiating and preparing commercial contracts, supplier contracts and tender bid response.
Handle corporate secretarial matters and manage the procurement and renewal of all necessary business, corporate and other licences and permits.
Manage HR-related disputes, disputes with shippers and commercial litigation.
Handle inquiries and investigations by various government agencies.
Handle administration of and manage legal department in a manner consistent with country-level and group-level policies.
The Head of Legal may be expected to take up management responsibilities of various operations-related teams from time-to-time. This includes the Ninja Van Philippines Security and Investigations team. Experience in investigations, fraud management and security management is a strong advantage.
Head of Legal reports to Group General Counsel but will be accountable to and be tasked by Ninja Van Philippines Country Head.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor in Philippines laws from a leading university.
10 years or more experience from a legal department of a company and reputable law firm.
Philippines Bar admission.
