The Job Mission Reporting directly to the Business Resilience Manager, the Fire Safety Manager will be considered the ‘Competent Person’ as defined in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and will manage the Fire Safety Team. The Fire Safety Manager ensures compliance with UK fire legislation and nuclear site license conditions on our construction project.

 

Responsibilities:

📝 Manage Construction Site Fire Safety arrangements and team.

📝 Develop and review a robust Fire Safety management system.

📝 Anticipate future fire needs and ensure legislative compliance.

📝 Manage Fire Safety Team, delivering objectives and KPIs.

📝 Establish fire safety meetings, forums, and engagements.

📝 Support regulatory inspections and provide stakeholder confidence.

📝 Implement a Fire Safety Assurance programme.

📝 Produce fire safety performance reports and dashboards.

📝 Collaborate with Fire Safety Engineer on fire safety solutions.

📝 Maintain fire risk registers and perform risk-based inspections.

📝 Liaise with contractors to mitigate fire risks.

📝 Provide compliance assurance and advice.

📝 Engage with construction insurers on fire safety matters.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

⚙️ Membership (or working towards) of IFSM or equivalent.

⚙️ Health, Safety & Fire Safety Qualified (e.g., UK Fire Service College, FPA, IFE, NEBOSH) with 2+ years’ experience.

⚙️ Knowledge of Health & Safety & Fire Safety principles and practices.

⚙️ Proficient in Microsoft applications and learning new software.

⚙️ Proven fire safety results in operating, engineering, and/or construction projects.

⚙️ Excellent communication skills and network development within the construction industry.

⚙️ Significant experience in fire safety management in large projects.

⚙️ Analytical skills to identify trends, issues, and risks.

⚙️ Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.

⚙️ Experience in developing and implementing fire safety strategies.

⚙️ Knowledge of national and international fire safety standards.

 

Desired Skills

✔️ Knowledge of CDM Regulations.

✔️ Experience influencing senior business leaders.

✔️ Experience in large-scale fire safety strategies.

✔️ Experience interfacing with ONR or HSE.

✔️ Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent.

✔️ IFE Membership and Qualification.
