The Assistant Merchandiser – Softlines will assist in developing and executing product strategies for Disney Parks. Responsibilities include market research, preparing presentations, analyzing product performance, collaborating with internal and external partners, managing product information in global systems, coordinating samples and showcases, maintaining merchandise catalogs, and contributing to diversity and inclusion goals. This role requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, a passion for retail and brand merchandising, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience in product development or merchandising is preferred.

As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will assist in creating and executing on the strategy for a collection of highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines for Disney Parks.

You will report to the Manager or Sr Manager in Softlines Merchandising.

Responsibilities/You Will:

  • Assist in creating and executing the product strategy for a collection of products or initiatives

  • Research, organize findings, assemble input from key partners and prepare presentation decks, briefs and recaps

  • Establish perspective on what’s working and why to consistently improve product line

  • Demonstrated passion for consumer and product trends

  • Deliver all item set up information and maintain updates within designated global systems, PLM and Kleinschmidt

  • Attend cross functional team meetings to assist with the input/output of communication

  • Coordinate samples among key partners and room set ups for product showcase

  • Prepare and maintain catalog of merchandise by quarter (photobooks)

  • Achieve our diversity and inclusion goals through professional growth

  • Assist with other Brand Merchandising team projects as needed

Basic Qualifications/You Have:

  • 0-3 years of progressive experience in Product Development and/or Merchandising

  • Interest in building a product line for a category or categories of business

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive execution against a plan

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain relationships with key partners (internal and external)

  • Strong Team Player – The ability to build & foster collaborative partnerships across functions & departments

  • Well-developed verbal and written Communication Skills

  • Passion for retail and brand merchandising

  • Flexible and adaptable with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines in a fast paced environment

  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize workload and concurrently manage multiple projects

  • High level of attention to detail; proactive, with strong follow through skills

  • Demonstrated positive attitude with the ability to be responsive to feedback and pivot based on changing organization priorities

  • Demonstrated personal initiative skills in the workplace, with willingness to learn new skills and processes

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience
