Job Summary:

Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer Legal Department is seeking a senior attorney with significant product/technology experience to serve as the subject matter expert for the Product and Technology Organizations, Business Operations, and the Viewer Experience and Performance Marketing teams.  In this role, you will advise these teams on complex issues across Disney’s DTC SVOD, LIVE and premium add-on offerings, including in-app experience, commerce, identity and regulatory and policy compliance.  The ideal candidate for this position will be well versed in identifying potential legal risks and developing business-focused strategies to mitigate them.  If you're equal parts leader & doer, who brings an ambitious, efficient, and inclusive spirit to all you do, we'd love you to join our team!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead a team of attorneys in advising on all product- and billing-focused matters affecting Disney’s SVOD, LIVE and premium add-on offerings, and serve as the escalation point for all critical issues.

  • Provide key counsel to the Product and Technology Organizations, Business Operations, and the Viewer Experience and Performance Marketing teams.

  • Serve as the main liaison between Disney’s DTC executive leadership and the legal team for critical matters affecting app experience, partner integrations and subscription offerings and billing.

  • Partner directly with Disney’s DTC business executives and team members in all phases of product launches and development, regulatory compliance and incident management.

  • Collaborate with business and legal subject matter experts across TWDC, including privacy, government affairs and litigation. 

  • Understand the high-level business goals of the company and provide strategic guidance that marries the business and legal initiatives of the company.

  • Assess risk and offer creative solutions to problems in delivering general product and technology counseling in a rapidly-changing streaming industry.

  • 10+ years total experience.

  • J.D. degree.

  • Experience in litigation risk advisory work.

The hiring range for this position in California is $232,500 to $311,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
