Job Description

As an Application Support Specialist, you'll assist Controls Engineering in implementing best practices and deploying industrial automation software. You'll design and implement automation for managing deployments and upgrades, define disaster recovery plans, and assist engineers in using industrial automation software sustainably. Responsibilities include ensuring best practices and observability, consulting on infrastructure and application architecture, and troubleshooting issues during on-call rotations. The role requires experience with industrial automation applications (Ignition preferred), Linux administration, databases (MySQL, MSSQL, SQLite), and Python/Java. You'll also be documenting processes, mentoring team members, and contributing to a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Must have:

Industrial automation applications experience (Ignition)
Expert Linux admin skills
Database knowledge (MySQL, MSSQL, SQLite)
Proficiency in Python/Java
On-call rotation comfort
Troubleshooting skills
Documentation & knowledge sharing

Good to have:

Ansible for systems automation
Ignition software experience
CI/CD experience with GitLab/Jenkins

We're a diverse team composed of Controls Automation Engineers, Software Engineers, and various other disciplines that help facilitate manual and automated manufacturing processes.

As an Application Support Specialist you'll be working with automation software, databases, virtual machines, and other applications that enable manufacturing in our various factories.

What You’ll Do

Assist Controls Engineering with implementing best practices and deployment of industrial automation software in a manufacturing environment
Design and implement automation for managing the deployment and upgrades of industrial automation applications
Define Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans for the various software deployments
Assist Software, Controls, Manufacturing and other types of engineers with using industrial automation software in a sustainable manner
Ensuring best practices and observability of the industrial automation software, such as metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting
Consult on and design infrastructure, systems and application architecture

What You’ll Bring

Experience using industrial automation applications, Ignition
Expert skills in Linux and its administration
Databases knowledge such as MySQL, MSSQL, SQLite
Proficiency in Python and/or Java
Comfortable on an on-call rotation
At ease with live troubleshooting of issues during on-call rotations
Habitual documenter and spreader of knowledge
Willing to mentor other team members and engineers with less knowledge
Strong bias for action vs endless planning, willing to get hands dirty and make mistakes sometimes
3+ years working with industrial automation applications

Nice to haves:

Ansible for systems automation
Ignition software experience
CI/CD experience with GitLab/Jenkins
Artifactory for storing/retrieving assets
Prometheus, AlertManager, Grafana, Git Hub Enterprise, Kafka, Jaeger and/or Splunk for observability
