Job Description

As an AI Health Research Clinical Specialist at Google Health, you'll be a key contributor to research programs focused on AI in healthcare. Leveraging your clinical expertise and research development lifecycle knowledge, you'll shape research program design, evaluation, and implementation. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, UX/UXR, legal, regulatory) and external stakeholders (C-suite, Key Opinion Formers, policymakers). Responsibilities include providing clinical leadership, identifying relevant clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices, prioritizing efforts across various projects, and contributing to product and research roadmaps. Ideal candidates possess experience in generative AI research and a strong healthcare professional background with recognized expertise in a specific clinical area.

Must have:

Medical Degree & accredited residency/fellowship
5+ years experience leading AI health research programs
Patient care experience
Cross-functional collaboration experience
Clinical leadership & guidance
Expertise in clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices

Good to have:

Advanced medical specialty certification
Experience in dynamic/ambiguous environments
Working with partners (C-suite, KOLs, policymakers)
Public speaking experience
Private sector AI/health experience
Generative AI research experience

Minimum qualifications:

Medical Degree and completion of accredited residency/fellowship or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of work based experience with designing and leading research programs in the AI for health space.
Experience in the provision of patient care.

Preferred qualifications:

Certified in Advanced training medical speciality.
Experience working in dynamic, ambiguous environments with cross-functional product development teams.
Experience working with partners, including C-suite leaders, Key Opinion Formers and policy makers.
Experience in speaking to external audiences.
Experience in working with AI and health in the private sector.
Experience in health related generative AI research.

About the job

As a clinical scientist you will be an effective and influential contributor to our work, developing and supporting research programs in the ‘AI for health’ space. You will utilize not only your clinical expertise and knowledge of the research development life cycle including moving from research into product but also your excellent listening, communication, and leadership skills to shape the content, design, evaluation and scaled implementation of research programs.

You are experienced in working in health AI research and development and have expertise in working cross-functionally with non-clinical teams including engineering, product management, UX/UXR, legal and regulatory affairs. You will have a demonstrable background working as a healthcare professional in your field with recognized expertise in a focused area of clinical care. Ideally, you will have considerable experience with generative AI research and tools.

Responsibilities

Use your AI and research expertise to provide clinical leadership to teams across Google, contributing both to overarching direction as well as to individual product and research roadmaps.
Use clinical and domain expertise to provide clinical leadership, guidance, insights and direction on Google’s health focused AI research projects, working in a embedded model with research, engineering, UX/UXR, product and partnerships teams.
Identify relevant clinical guidelines, evidence-based practices, and use cases related to the development and evaluation of AI models and use these to influence research and product development.
Respond to the needs of the business and projects prioritizing effort effectively working in a portfolio environment to bring your expertise to a range of endeavors.
