Senior Back-end Engineer

Cognite is looking for a Senior Back-end Engineer to develop their Cognite Data Fusion platform. You will build robust services with Python and Kotlin, work with graph databases, and contribute to a scalable and performant data infrastructure.

Role &amp; Responsibilities <ul><li>Develop Cognite Data Fusion - a robust, state-of-the-art SaaS for industrial data.</li><li>Solve concrete industrial data problems by designing and implementing delightful APIs and robust services with Python and Kotlin.</li><li>Build graph database technology using PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch to power our industrial knowledge graph, realizing Cognite’s vision of a safer and more efficient industrial future.</li><li>Work with application teams to ensure a delightful user experience that helps the user solve complex real-world problems that have yet to be solved before.</li><li>Build scalable and performant solutions with open-source technology like Spark and Foundation DB and Cognite’s data infrastructure.</li><li>Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts.</li><li>Be actively involved in product and technical decisions. </li></ul>
We Believe Most Of These Should Match Your Experience <ul><li>Solid experience with building complex backend services using JVM-based languages and/or Python.</li><li>Good understanding of modern database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL</li><li>Passion for graph processing, databases, performance engineering, or distributed systems</li><li>Broad experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD and Infrastructure as code</li><li>Experience with large Cloud deployments on any of AWS, GCP, or Azure; build, test, deploy, and monitor software in a multi-cloud Kubernetes environment.</li><li>Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to track down information in logs, traces, and metrics and take appropriate action based on findings.</li><li>Solid understanding of monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana</li><li>Comfortable working with Open-Source community - request features, fix issues</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills </li></ul>
