We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to bridge the gap between art and engineering, ensuring the technical feasibility of artistic concepts and creating high-quality content for demos.
You have hybrid expertise in art and programming, complemented by an analytical and creative mindset. You have experience creating immersive experiences with both art and code as your paintbrush. You believe in the cooperation between gameplay, art, and engineering. You will work with programmers to bridge ideas with the latest research from SEED and the latest technology at EA to develop experiences that were previously beyond reach.
This new initiative is made up of a hybrid of top talent, all working together in the beautiful city of Montréal, Québec, Canada. With its rich history of game development, this vibrant, creative hub is the perfect backdrop for our endeavour.
You will report to the team’s Game Design Director.
As a Senior Technical Artist at SEED, you will:
Perform hands-on work within game engines and tools to bring artistic visions to life while maintaining technical integrity.
Develop and integrate content from multiple domains (environments, characters, animation, and VFX) to build compelling demos and prototypes.
Ensure the technical feasibility of artistic concepts by collaborating with both artists and engineers.
As a diverse team with solid goals, we provide autonomy and true influence to each team member. We are looking for an open and curious person who gets a kick out of taking new ideas, investigating them, and adapting their application to games. You have a desire to explore new areas of game development—someone who is passionate, creative, communicative, and invested.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in the games industry, with a background in both art and engineering.
Shipped AAA games on consoles and PC or mobile devices.
Demoscene mindset, with the ability to balance the technical with practical considerations.
Whip together content from across domains to build high-quality demos.
Proficiency in multiple software and technologies used in game development, including 3D modelling, texturing, and rendering.
You balance artistic creativity with technical constraints, ensuring that solutions are both visually stunning and technically sound.
You can explain technical concepts to both artists and engineers.
You want to collaborate with game designers, artists, and other engineers to achieve project goals.
Willingness to travel for conferences and visit teams across EA studios.
You care about video games.
